Coachella reportedly postponed until October after authorities in the area confirm three new cases of coronavirus
One of the world's biggest music festivals, the Coachella festival, scheduled to take place next month, has reportedly been postponed to October in light of the coronavirus outbreak.
According to the Riverside County Department of Public Health, there are three new cases of coronavirus already confirmed in the Coachella Valley region and according to a report by Entertainment Tonight, the festival has been postponed by a further six months as fears of the virsu spreading around the US increases daily.
An online petition asking organizers to cancel the event has already gathered 16,000 signatures as at Monday.
''As a highly inclusive community, we are responsible to protect each and every community member, which include the ones who are elderly, fragile, or the ones who suffers from chronic diseases, cancer, immune system diseases and other form of disabilities,' wrote Stella Young, the woman behind the petition.
'The lives of these people should not be downplayed and we shouldn't risk their lives since they have a higher chance catching COVID-19 and develop critical situations that need to be hospitalized,' Young wrote.
Coachella draws about 250,000 people over two weekends and this year's event is to be headlined by Rage Against The Machine, Frank Ocean and Travis Scott.
