"I couldn't be more proud" - Nigerian woman shows off the house her 25-year-old daughter is building in Bali, Indonesia

Nigerian Real estate mogul and lawyer, Udo Maryanne Okonjo has disclosed that her first daughter, Chidi, is building her first investment property in Bali, Indonesia.

Chidi is a travelling entreprenuer and worked for a tech company in New York as a business analyst before she started her business. She was born in Canada and grew up in Nigeria and South Africa.

During a question and answer session on Instagram, the 25-year-old said she didn't take any loan or financing for her villa but paid it out of her own pocket.

                                                           Mrs Udo Okonjo

Sharing a glimpse of the house which is still under construction, Mrs Okonjo said she is proud of her daughter and challenged women to start investing in Real Estate.

"I couldn’t be more proud! Daughter 1 is building her first investment property. Who says women can’t command wealth? And who says it can’t start as early as you decide to take charge of your life," she wrote.

"Choosing to challenge more women to create the right income streams and get onto the property ladder.

"PS. Please note that gender biases are still in place all over the world. Women tend to spend more especially on property and construction because they aren’t considered as knowledgeable. So be sure to have knowledgeable advocates/advisors on your side if needed."

Timbaland and Swizz Beatz sell their Verzuz video streaming app to Thriller for undisclosed amount

One year after launching Verzuz, Swizz Beatz and Timbaland have sold the powerhouse livestream music series platform to Thriller.

Triller says Swizz and Timbaland will become large shareholders in the Triller Network and serve as brand visionaries on the Triller Verzuz management team but didn't disclose the financial details of the deal.

The Verzuz co-founders have also allocated a portion of their equity in the new combined company to all 43 performers who have appeared on Verzuz to date.

Artists that had appeared on Verzuz include John Legend, DMX, Alicia Keys, 2 Chainz, Rick Ross, Gucci Mane, Jeezy, Nelly, Ludacris, Brandy, Monica, Gladys Knight, D’Angelo, and more.

Verzuz launched in March of 2020 amid the cancelation of live events and concerts due to the pandemic. The platform has become a cultural phenomenon, amassing more than five billion impressions across platforms including Instagram and Apple Music. Earlier this year, Verzuz partnered with the NFL and plans to venture into additional sports verticals, comedy, and live events in the future.

“This is a momentous occasion not only for Verzuz and Triller but the music business as a whole,” said Swizz Beatz and Timbaland.

“By putting Verzuz in the Triller Network ecosystem and expanding the Verzuz brand to be side by side with the powerful Triller app, we will be able to continue to grow and evolve the music business as a whole, as we have been doing. To have partners in Triller who share our vision, specifically to celebrate and elevate the amazing artists who continue to shape culture around the world and give the consumer more direct access, is game changing.”

“We couldn’t be happier to be elevating Verzuz and Triller and to recognize, in a very real way, all of the artists who have helped make Verzuz the global phenomenon it is today. Our dream, the artists’ dream, today is realized, which is no small feat. Triller Verzuz is a company that’s by the artists, for the artists and with the people.”

Bobby Sarnevesht, Executive Chairman and co-owner of Triller, said;

“There is no more disruptive and innovative brand in music today than Verzuz,”

“Verzuz and music are synonymous, and both Triller and Verzuz share the ‘artist first, music first’ vision. We view this acquisition as more of a partnership than an acquisition, as Swizz, Timbaland and the other 43 artists who are all becoming shareholders and partners in Triller Verzuz from this day forward become our voice.”

There are plans to keep Verzuz on Instagram and Twitter in addition to Triller. But it won’t be returning to Apple Music after the deal expired.

“We should be smart and just put it only on Triller. But we have strong core audiences on Instagram and Twitter as well. So for right now we want to leave everything in place,” Swizz told Billboard.

A man from Melbourne, Australia, Richard Pusey has admitted to taunting dying police officers at a crash scene.

Pusey, 42, has pleaded guilty to filming and mocking police officers as they lay dying at a crash scene.

He also admitted to the rare charge of outraging public decency as well as drug and other offences.

Pusey was in his car on a Melbourne freeway last year when he was pulled over by four officers for speeding.

While the officers were making his arrest, all four officers, pictured below, were struck by a speeding lorry that had veered out of its lane.

Pusey had been standing a few metres away and avoided the crash, but afterwards pulled out his phone and began filming for over three minutes.

He stood over and taunted Senior Constable Taylor as she remained pinned under the lorry a court previously heard. Experts said she was most likely still alive at the time.

"There you go. Amazing, absolutely amazing," he said, according to vision from the constable's body-worn camera which was tendered to a court.

"All I wanted was to go home and have some sushi," he added, before using expletives to blame the officers for ruining his car.

He fled the scene on Melbourne's Eastern Freeway shortly after.

Senior Constables Lynette Taylor, Kevin King, Constables Glen Humphris and Josh Prestney all died at the scene.

The lorry driver, Mohinder Singh Bajwa, has pleaded guilty to four charges of culpable driving causing death and will face another court hearing this week.

Pusey was arrested at his home after the crash. He was initially charged with speeding, drug possession and reckless conduct offences.

However, police discovered Pusey's video and that he had shared it among friends.

Local media reported that the offence of outraging public decency was rarely prosecuted in Australia.

Pusey is due to face court again on 31 March.

The case continues.

Man breaks wife's jaw during argument over their dog's dinner

Man breaks wife

A man broke his wife’s jaw during an argument over their dog’s dinner, forcing her to have emergency surgery.

Patrick Coleman, 47, had an argument over the dog's dinner with his wife Jaqueline Coleman and attacked her until she was rescued by a neighbour.

According to reports,  he was spared jail after his wife told the judge it would hurt her family financially and cost her sons their home if he went to prison.

Liverpool Crown Court heard he was being "aggressive" in their living room in St Helens, Merseyside on October 10, 2020.

Judge David Aubrey said the argument “appears to have related to the family dog” and how it was “either eating or not eating his or her meal” when he "lost it".

Speaking to Coleman, the judge said; "the red mist descended" and "it was the first occasion that you had ever laid a finger on your wife”.

The judge said if there had been “any suggestion of prior domestic violence” he would have been jailed.

Paul Blasbery, prosecuting, said Coleman shoved his wife backwards, and then when she pushed him back, he punched her in the left side of her jaw.

He grabbed her and threw her onto the stairs, before “constantly punching her to the face and the body”.

He then pushed her onto a sofa and put his hands around her neck, but "thankfully" a neighbour rushed inside and stopped the violence.

Two days later Mrs Coleman went to the hospital and had her jaw moved back into the correct position, with a titanium plate and four screws inserted.

Coleman told police "it was my fault" when arrested.

He admitted inflicting grievous bodily harm and was handed a 12-month suspended sentence.

In a victim statement, Mrs Coleman said he had never previously been violent during their 26-year relationship.

She said she was concerned about the future, had debts and a mortgage that she couldn't afford to pay on her own, if he was jailed and if she was not able to help with caring responsibilities she might also lose her job, she added.

Mrs Coleman said: "I worry this will feel like we've been punished more than Patrick."

Charles Lander, defending, said Coleman had lost his home and "the love of his wife".

Coleman wanted to "reunite" with his family "if they would want to be reunited with him”, he added.

He said Coleman, who was living in a rented bedsit but also paying towards his mortgage, had mental health issues and was drinking before the attack.

He is now free but stands the risk of facing imprisonment  if he attacks his wife again.

Cattle traders begin strike today

Cattle traders begin strike today

Cattle and Foodstuff dealers under the aegis of Amalgamated Union of Foodstuff and Cattle Dealers of Nigeria (AUFCDN) on Thursday February 25, began a nationwide strike following the expiration of a seven-day ultimatum given to the federal government to attend to their demands.

The union had demanded payment of N475 billion compensation for lives of members and properties lost during the #EndSARS protest and Shasa market chaos, and dismantling of all road blocks on federal highways due to problems its members get subjected to when carrying out their duties.

Grand Matron of AUFCDN, Hajia Hauwa Kabir Usman who announced commencement of the strike asked the police not to disturb task force of the union who will carry out enforcement of the strike by ensuring that no food and cattle were moved from North to the South.

Usman said;

“The leadership of the union has already made a strong plan to ensure that all our exits (our borders) between the Northern and Southern part are closed.

“Every truck that will go out has to be checked. If you carry any food or cattle, you cannot take it out except you take it back or be destroyed there. None of the security agents should dare intimate our task force members because if they do, we will fight it legally.”

Usman who recalled how they gave a 21-day ultimatum to the federal government, vowed that the union would not compromise on its demands.

Bernabei, 69, leads the geriatrics and rehabilitative medicine department at Rome's Gemelli, the Catholic hospital where popes are traditionally treated.

Francis is believed to be in relative good health, despite having had part of his lung removed when he was a young man after developing pleurisy.

Last month, he cancelled several events due to a chronic nerve condition that causes hip pain and makes him walk with a slight limp.

The pope later received the coronavirus vaccine alongside his predecessor, former pope Benedict XVI.

"They’ll find a way to let him back on”- Bill Gates says Trump should be allowed to return to social media

"They?ll find a way to let him back on?- Bill Gates says Trump should be allowed to return to social media

Billionaire Microsoft co-founder, Bill Gates has stated that former U.S. president, Donald Trump should eventually have his social media accounts re-activated.

Twitter cut the former president off from some 88 million followers after the deadly riot on Jan. 6, when a group of Trump supporters stormed the Capitol while Congress was certifying President Biden's victory, leaving five people, including a U.S. Capitol Police officer, dead. At the time, Twitter said that Trump's tweets posed "the risk of further incitement of violence."

Facebook, Snapchat and Reddit also suspended Trump's online presence indefinitely following the attack.

Now Gates says that social media companies should let President Trump back on their platforms, despite his "corrosive" election fraud claims.

Gates, asked during an interview with CNBC on Thursday, February 18, whether he would let Trump back on social media if he were a member of Facebook's oversight board, he replied;.

"I think at some point he probably will be allowed back on and probably should be allowed back on," the billionaire philanthropist said.

Gates suggested that if social media companies allow Trump to return, they could put a warning label on any false statements he makes.

"It’s weird when you’re, you know, saying that the election was stolen without any facts there. And how corrosive that is," Gates said.

"But I’ll bet they’ll find a way to let him back on."

House Democrats, joined by 10 Republicans, impeached Trump on Jan. 13. The Senate voted 57-43 in favor of the impeachment count, ten short of the 67 needed to convict.

"You know in a way ... people’s interest in what he says may go down quite a bit," Gates added. "That’ll be interesting to watch."
