Tyson Fury stops Deontay Wilder in brutal seventh-round KO to win WBC heavyweight championship (photos/videos)

Tyson Fury has become the WBC heavyweight champion of the world, defeating Deontay Wilder in the 7th round in the Heavyweight championship clash on Sunday morning Feb 23rd at MGM Grand Arena, Las Vegas

Fury who came in as the challenger, surpassed the odds, by getting a technical knockout over Deontay Wilder.

In the third round, Fury knocked out Wilder, making the American fall down to the canvas, his second time of touching the canvas in his career.

In the last round (seventh), Fury smashed Wilder in the face with a straight right, and Wilder was trapped in the corner, causing his people to throw in the towel after noticing that he had a bloody cut on his mouth and blood dripping out of his ears. The referee immediately called off the match, granting Fury the much coveted WBC heavyweight crown, and Wilder's first loss of his career.

After the match, Wilder said:

“I’m doing good. Things like this happen. The best man won tonight, but my corner threw in the towel and I was ready to go out on my shield. I had a lot of things going on heading into this fight. It is what it is, but I make no excuses tonight. I just wish my corner would have let me go out on my shield. I’m a warrior. He had a great performance and we will be back stronger.

“Even the greatest have lost and came back, that is just part of it. You just take it for what it is. I can make no excuses tonight. I had a lot of complications. But we’ll come back stronger next time around. This is what big-time boxing is all about, the best must fight the best. I appreciate all the fans that came out and supported the show, and I hope that everyone gets home safely.”

Tyson Fury, the new champion, said

“A big shout out to Deontay Wilder. He came here tonight and he manned up and he really did show the heart of a champion. I hit him with a clean right that dropped him and he got back up. He is a warrior. He will be back. He will be champion again.

“But I will say, the king has returned to the top of the throne!”

Fury now has the WBC , lineal and Ring Magazine belts. Congrats to him!!

Twitter users react after Kelechi Iheanacho is ''hit'' by goalkeeper in Man City's win over Leicester (photos/video)

Leicester City striker, Kelechi Iheanacho was wiped out by Manchester City goalkeeper, Ederson, five minutes before half-time in Leicester’s 1-0 defeat on Saturday, after he collided with the Brazilian as they both competed for the ball.

Iheanacho while trying to head home James Maddison’s pass, got hit in the face by goalkeeper Ederson, who was trying to reach the ball first. Leicester appealed for a penalty, but only a corner was given, and while Iheanacho continued after treatment, he was substituted at the break on the advice of the club medical staff.

No penalty or red card was given and now some football fans on Twitter have come out to blast referee Paul Tierney and Video Assistant Referee (VAR) for not sending off Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson, after the ''reckless challenge,'' with one user comparing Ederson's punch to that of heavyweight boxers Deontay Wilder and Tyson Fury.

Absolutely ridiculous that this isn’t a foul and a red card.

Donald Trump slams Obama for ‘trying to take credit’ for US economic boom

Donald Trump blasted his predecessor Barack Obama for claiming that he's responsible for creating legislation that caused economic booms in both of their administrations.

On Monday, Obama tweeted a photo of what appeared to be his signature at the foot of the Recovery Act, a stimulus package passed in February 2009.

"Eleven years ago today, near the bottom of the worst recession in generations, I signed the Recovery Act, paving the way for more than a decade of economic growth and the longest streak of job creation in American history," Barack Obama wrote.

And Trump took to Twitter to slam Obama's claim as a "con job."

He tweeted: "Did you hear the latest con job? President Obama is now trying to take credit for the Economic Boom taking place under the Trump Administration. He had the WEAKEST recovery since the Great Depression, despite Zero Fed Rate & MASSIVE quantitative easing. NOW, best jobs numbers...."

In a subsequent tweet, Trump decried the economic recovery under Obama as the weakest since the Great Depression of 1929. He also asserted that the US would be in dire financial straits had the Democratic party won the 2016 presidential election.

He wrote: "....ever. Had to rebuild our military, which was totally depleted. Fed Rate UP, taxes and regulations WAY DOWN. If Dems won in 2016, the USA would be in big economic (Depression?) & military trouble right now. THE BEST IS YET TO COME. KEEP AMERICA GREAT!

The north will destroy itself if it doesn’t change - Emir Sanusi

The Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi has warned that the northern region of the country will destroy itself if it doesn't change its ways.

Speaking at a programme to commemorate the 60th birthday celebration of Governor Nasir el-Rufai of Kaduna State, the Kano monarch stated that repeating the same thing and expecting a different result shows that something is wrong.

Emir Sanusi who pointed out that the country is moving on, stated that real change can only come in the region if things are done differently.

He also averred that a day will come when there will be a constitutional amendment that addresses issues of quota system and federal character, because the rest of the country cannot continue educating their children who will remain unemployed because they come from the wrong state.

He said;

“It is almost correct now to say that, if you are seen as normal, if you are a governor in the north or a leader in the north, and you are seen as normal in the sense that you continue to do what your predecessors have been doing, doing the same thing, which has been normalised, then, there is something wrong with you. You are part of the problem, ” Sanusi said.

“The real change in the north will come from those who are considered mad people, because you look around and say if this is the way we have been doing things, and this is where we have ended up, maybe we need to do things differently.

“If the north does not change, the north will destroy itself. The country is moving on… If we don’t listen, there would be a day when there would be a constitutional amendment that addresses these issues of quota system and federal character.

“The rest of the country cannot be investing, educating its children, producing graduates and then they watch us, they can’t get jobs because they come from the wrong state, when we have not invested in the future of our own children."

He also disclosed leaders from northern Nigeria can't afford to be happy when about 87 percent of poverty in Nigeria is in the region.

Emir Sanusi added;

“Nobody who is a leader in northern Nigeria today can afford to be happy,” Sanusi said.

“You cannot be happy about 87 percent of poverty in Nigeria being in the north. You can’t be happy with millions of northern out-of-school children. You can’t be happy with nine states in the north contributing almost 50 percent of the entire malnutrition burden in the country.

“You can’t be happy with the Boko Haram problem. You can’t be happy with all the issues.

“So, we wish Nasir a happy birthday, but we do not want him to be happy as a leader. Because you are happy when you think you have reached a state of delivering and taking your people to where you want them to be.”

Emir Sanusi also commended Governor El-Rufai for addressing the main issue in his state which is education.

He said;

“If you look at what Nasir is doing in Kaduna, with 40 percent of his budget in education, that is the only thing that is going to safe the north. I know that, when we say these things, they don’t go down well."

A Florida surgeon, Dr Moses deGraft-Johnson has been charged by US prosecutors to the tune of $26million in healthcare fraud, after they found out he allegedly defrauded government and insurers with fake surgeries so as to fund his political ambition in his native Ghana.

A federal grand jury early this month unsealed a 58-count indictment alleging that Dr Moses falsely billed insurers, including Medicare and Medicaid, for work he did not perform.

According to the Federal Department of Health and Human Services investigations, deGraft-Johnson claimed to have performed over a five-year period more than 3,600 atherectomies and angioplasties, surgeries that were never performed.

'He used his access to the hospital's daily census to poach patients for his scheme to defraud, instructing his staff to cold call patients from the hospital so that he could use their presence to fraudulently bill health care programs,' prosecutors said in court documents.

Prosecutors asked the judge to keep the doctor in custody as his long term goal was to be the president of Ghana suggesting he was a flight risk.

US Magistrate Judge Charles A Stampelos agreed and ordered deGraft-Johnson held until trial, set for March 23.

Johnson's assets were freezed after Investigators said they looked into the doctor's bank accounts and discovered at least $1.8million in international wire transfers to entities and associates in Ghana plus the fact that he has a relative who was the vice president of Ghana in the 80s.

'He's a wonderful doctor, and I will defend him vigorously,' said William Bubsey, the attorney who represented deGraft-Johnson during Friday's detention hearings, even though he isn't sure he will represent Johnson when the main trial starts.

Bubsey also said the allegations against Johnson were false as the money he sent home was used to help poor people in Ghana and not for any political ambition.

Comparison with those on social media is one of the things killing people today - Nathaniel Bassey

Gospel singer, Nathaniel Bassey on Monday morning appealed to Nigerians, particularly the youths, not to allow themselves slip into depression by comparing their lives to people on social media.

In a post shared on his IG page, the singer stated that as a youth pastor, he has come to understand that many of the problems youths face is because they compare their lives to others, forgetting all the benefits of God towards them. He encouraged everyone to remmber God's goodness and stay giving thanks always.

He wrote

As a youth Pastor myself, I get to speak with a lot of young people. And many times when I trace the root of their issues, one of the things I find, amongst other things, is this. The era we live in is one of “make belief”

co

I have seen people take sad trips because all they do, all day, is focus, ruminate & meditate on the shines & blings that, some times, others intentionally want them to see, especially on social media, while forgetting the ENORMOUS goodness and mercies of God in their own lives. And the moment you cease to see how good HE has been to you, you open a door to these tormenting spirits. And all they make you see is how “terrible” your situation is. And as you feed on this, you begin to get “weighed” down. DEPRESSED. “THE- PRESS” begins to act on you- then you begin to make DECISIONS based on these feelings. And the end of these decisions play out the lies you were told by the devil. And later you tend to feel a sense of justification about the way your felt at first.

PLEASE GIVE THANKS! Spend more time in the word. Focus on His goodness. Literally COUNT THEM. As as you do, the Holy Spirit would shed more light on then bringing to your remembrance God’s faithful acts in your life . Then even the things you are expecting and waiting on would begin to fall in place one after the other !
Nothing wrong with looking at other people’s successes. But do so and be truly grateful for them, without necessarily doing so against the backdrop of your own situation.
This week BE GRATEFUL !

'Go f*** yourself': Porto and Malian striker, Moussa Marega blasts Vitoria SC fans after he was racially abused (photos/video)

The Primeira Liga game between Porto vs Vitoria Guimaraes was marred by yet another show of racism in football as Malian striker, Moussa Marega was racially abused by Vitoria SC fans after he scored his side's winner on Sunday.

When the 28-year-old striker scored in the 60th minute, he celebrated his goal by pointing to the colour of the skin on his forearm, which prompted monkey noises and chairs to be thrown from the stands.

Marega even celebrated with one of the discarded plastic seats but then made his way to the side of the pitch, with his thumbs down and seemingly booing the home supporters.

He was shown a yellow card for the reaction and after the abuse continued he attempted to angrily leave the pitch, but was restrained by his teammates and opposition players, including Porto coach Sergio Conceicao.

The Malian striker who spent a season on loan at Vitoria in 2016-17 was later substituted in the 72nd minute and replaced with Wilson Manafa.

After the final whistle, Marega took to Instagram to blast the racist supporters: 'I'd like to tell those idiots that came to the stadium to shout racist abuse... go f*** yourself.

'I also want to congratulate the referee for not protecting me and showing me a yellow card because I'm defending my skin colour.

'I hope I never meet him again on a football pitch!! YOU'RE A DISGRACE!!!'

His coach, Conceicao also spoke about the incident while speaking in his post-match interview.

He told reporters: "We are completely indignant,"

"They insulted Marega since the warm-up. We are all a family here, regardless of our nationality, skin colour, height or the colour of our hair and we all deserve respect. What happened here is outrageous.

"I know the fans here are very passionate about their club and many fans are not represented by some of the people who were in the crowd today."
