Seven policemen and three soldiers killed as Boko haram terrorists attack Borno Governor, Babagana Zulum’s convoy

Togo

Togo's Prime Minister Komi Selom Klassou and his government have resigned in a political reshuffle delayed by the Coronavirus pandemic.

The resignation came after President Faure Gnassingbe won his re-election in March, extending his 15-year-old rule and a family dynasty that began when his father took power in a 1967 coup.

Komi Selom Klassou has served as prime minister since 2015. Commenting on the resignation of the prime minister, Gnassingbe congratulated Klassou and his team for their "economic, political and social efforts and the encouraging results despite the health crisis around the world."

The presidency did not say when a new prime minister would be appointed

Eight policemen, three soldiers, and four Civilian Joint Task Force operatives were killed after the convoy of the Borno state governor, Babagana Zulum, was again attacked by Boko Haram terrorists along the Baga Highway in the state on Friday, September 25.

According to reports, the governor had left Maiduguri for Baga to prepare for the planned return of internally displaced persons from Maiduguri to the camps in Baga when his convoy was attacked by the terrorists.

The attack comes barely two months after Governor Zulum was attacked around the same axis by the insurgents on his way from Baga.

I and 119 volunteers will serve the jail sentence — Auschwitz Memorial Director writes Buhari over 13-year-old boy sentenced to 10 years in prison for blasphemy in Kano

I and 119 volunteers will serve the jail sentence ? Auschwitz Memorial Director writes Buhari over 13-year-old boy sentenced to 10 years in prison for blasphemy in Kano

Piotr Cywinski, director of Auschwitz Memorial in Poland has written a letter addressed to President Buhari over the 10 year jail sentence handed to 13-year-old Umar Farouq over blasphemy in Kano.

Recall LIB reported that the teenager was handed the jail sentence for “using disparaging language on Allah” during a disagreement with his friend.

However Cywinski, a foreign activist, in the letter dated September 25 sought for pardon for Farouq, and further stated that he and 119 volunteers would serve a month in a Nigerian prison on Farouq’s behalf if President Buhari is unable to secure the pardon.

The letter read;

“I permit myself to write to you personally about a young boy named Omar Farouq, who was convicted recently in a Sharia court in Kano State in north-west Nigeria after being accused of blasphemy used during an argument with a friend,” he said.

“I wish to request the pardon of this 13 year old boy. Regardless of what he said, he cannot be treated as fully aware and responsible, given his age.

“If it turns out that the words of this child absolutely require 120 months of imprisonment, and even you are not able to change that, I suggest that in place of the child, 120 adult volunteers from all over the world, gathered by us myself personally among them should each serve a month in a Nigerian prison.

“In total, the price for the child’s transgression will be the same, and we will all avoid the worst.

“If you agree to grant clemency, or to the above proposal in lieu of punishment, I will make an attempt to provide financial help for the boy’s proper education. This way, instead of a destroyed young man, Nigeria will gain an aware and educated young citizen.

“You will undoubtedly agree with the statement that human rights begin with the rights of the child. I kindly ask you to consider my proposal favorably.”

Everybody has the right to express love the way they want - Actor Wole Ojo tells Ozo

Actor Wole Ojo has reacted to the tantrums that has trailed Ozo's eviction from the Big Brother reality show.

Ojo who slammed Ozo's critics for saying that he was extreme with expression of his love for Nengi, stated that everybody has the right to express love the way they want or are built to.

He added that labelling someone "cowardly" for not acting the way that appeals to outsiders, is "forcing people to align with your own form of expressing love."

The actor wrote;

Everybody get him own style! Find a partner that matches yours! Or do what you can to convince the other in your own way! You're not a COWARD! You're YOU! And you're AWESOME!

Rubbish talk everywhere!

Model who lost 8st to be crowned Miss Great Britain says it's not fat-shaming to call overweight people obese

Model who lost 8st to be crowned Miss Great Britain says it

A model who lost eight stoned (almost 51kg) on her way to being crowned Miss Great Britain has said it is not "fat-shaming" to call overweight people "obese".

Jen Atkin, who used to weigh in at 18 stone before slimming down dramatically, criticised people for being "way too easily offended".

The 26-year-old spoke out after finding out that the British Psychological Society is advising people against using the word "obese", asking them to use, instead, the words "living with obesity".

Atkin revealed her horror at this and said the word "obese" is what spurred her to lose weight.

Jen Atkin before losing weight

Jen said that "hiding terms" like "burn off last night's pizza" would only worsen Britain's obesity crisis with almost two thirds of UK adults overweight.

The model from Grimsby, North East Lincolnshire, said: "I think it's going to encourage people to eat more calories and not keep track of what they're eating and therefore end up overweight or obese. It's just avoiding the issue completely.

"Trust me, I have been fat shamed in the past and this is not fat shaming. Calories are in food and we need calories to survive. We need to educate people on healthy living."

Atkin is keen to promote a healthy lifestyle after her remarkable weight loss, which came about over a two-year period with regular visits to the gym.

She was named Miss Scunthorpe before going on to compete for the title of Miss England in 2018, where she finished as first runner-up.

She briefly retired from competing in pageants after getting married but gave it one more shot when her name was put forward to represent Great Britain.

In March 2020 she was named the 75th Miss Great Britain.

Chima also shared a post on how Nigerian men residing abroad can get a good wife from Nigeria.

So, for all you Nigerian American friends asking me how to spot a good Nigerian woman from back home, these are the Tips:

1, Make sure she’s God fearing and cultured,

2, never ignore the warning signs, if she’s always half naked in her pics and wears half naked clothes she’s a smash and dip out not wifey,

3, make sure she lives with her parents,

4, make sure her parents and her entire family have the upmost respect for marriage,

5, make sure they all go to church together,

6, make sure she doesn’t go to night clubs on the regular and hang out in clubs,

7, make sure she’s not a so called slay queen, those ones will kill you quicker than anything, those are the wannabe Americans, and a wannabe will kill you quicker than the real thing cause they want to be sooo bad,

8, make sure she hasn’t been to Dubai alone or doesn’t go to Dubai( aka free visa area for prostitution)

9, make sure she’s a university graduate or at least in university and educated,

10, make sure she’s respectful, doesn’t drink Alchohol all the time, don’t smoke cigarettes or weed,

11, watch the friends she keeps, if she has too many that talk and act wreckless, that’s a no no,

12, if she has no friends or very little and don’t listen to them, but instead makes her own careful decisions, then she’s a keeper,

13, make sure she doesn’t drive her own car( dem are pussy sellers, unless she has a very legitimate work or career, screwing politicians and sucking them off doesn’t count either, I said what I said!)

14, make sure she’s always home at night in her papa house o,

15, make sure she’s not so money hungry, 16, make sure she values marriage herself,

17, then last but not least, make sure you’re handsome, tall, well paid and can take care of a woman, no go carry person pikin and suffer her to death, okay, maybe not the handsome and tall part cause everyone can’t be DON CHIMAINO but you get the point

..Anyway, follow my tips it’s the road to finding a good one ''

Chima and his ex, Juliet got married in October 2011 and separated in 2012, just a few months after their wedding ceremony. At the time, Juliet said the marriage had ended over ''irreconcilable differences".

In 2014, after lots of communication between the couple, they decided to give their marriage a second chance which made the actress move to the US to start afresh with Chima Ojukwu.

In 2015, the couple welcomed their first child, a baby boy and in 2017 they welcomed the second child, a baby girl at a hospital in the US

However, in 2018, they fought dirty on Instagram and Juliet announced her plans to divorce Ojukwu over domestic violence. Read here.

Late reporting caused most Coronavirus deaths - PTF

Late reporting caused most Coronavirus deaths - PTF

The Presidential Task Force (PTF) has revealed that most of the COVID-19 deaths recorded in the country was as a result of reporting late for treatment.

Minister of Health Dr. Osagie Ehanire who said this during the briefing of the PTF on COVID-19 in Abuja, stated that some late Coronavirus patients reported to health facilities when their conditions had worsened.

Ehanire said;

“As of this morning, the Federal Ministry of Health has recorded 56,604 covid-19 positive cases out of a total of 482,321 samples tested, giving a positivity rate of 11.7 per cent.  47,872 persons have been treated and discharged, but we have sadly lost 1,091 persons to the disease.

“Our objective is still to lower the case fatality rate to less than one per cent, but an additional challenge we have observed is that most fatalities are among those reporting late for treatment, when their clinical condition has worsened.

“The delay in deciding whether or when to go for treatment is what we must fight. I, therefore, renew my plea to all those who test positive, are 60 years or older and have underlying health conditions, to report immediately to a treatment facility.”

The Minister also called on members of Joint Health Sector Union (JOHESU) “to put the plight, safety and wellbeing of their patients into consideration, and to call off the ongoing strike, while differences are being addressed by negotiation”.
