Amaju Pinnick explains the choice of Joseph Yobo for Super Eagles Job

NFF President Amaju Pinnick has come out to explain the rationale behind the football federation's decision to appoint former Nigeria International Joseph Yobo as the new Super Eagles assistant coach.

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) announced Yobo as the new assistant coach of the senior men’s national team to work under Head coach, Gernot Rohr.

Yobo, a former captain of Everton and Nigeria was appointed as the new assistant coach even though he has no FIFA accredited coaching license or any coaching pedigree.

Speaking to journalists on the choice of the Ogoni born ex-Super Eagles international, Pinnick insists Yoko is thr ideal candidate for the role saying his wealth of experience will help mentor the young Super Eagles squad.

“Yobo has good leadership spirit, I also think that he will be a very good mentor to our young players and he also has discipline with a great level of dignity,” Pinnick said on Friday.

Yobo will start his new job when Nigeria takes Sierra Leone in next month’s CAF Nations Cup qualifiers.
