Update: Son of Brazilian president Jair Bolsonaro denies report his father has coronavirus, says his test came out 'Negative'

Eduardo Bolsonaro, the son of Brazilian president Jair Bolsonaro has revealed that his father actually tested negative for the coronavirus.



His son Eduardo Bolsonaro, a congressman told Fox News on Friday after Top Rio de Janeiro newspaper, O Dia reported that the president tested positive for coronavirus.



“The test is negative,” Eduardo told Fox News Channel in an interview.



He also took to Twitter to disclose that himself and his father tested negative for coronavirus.



'I never told anyone (even the press) that President @jairbolsonaro's tested positive, ever. Also because this information never came to me. The only information I have is that PR @jairbolsonaro, Min. @Gen_heleno and I tested NEGATIVE for COVID-19.'

On Thursday, President Bolsonaro’s press secretary, Fabio Wajngarten was diagnosed with the virus following their trip to the US for a meeting with President Donald Trump, who later hosted a dinner for them at Mar-a-Lago in Florida on Saturday.



After Mr. Wajngarten was diagnosed on Thursday, President Trump told reporters: "I'm not concerned," but White House press secretary, Stephanie Grisham, has played down Mr. Trump’s level of exposure.



She said in a statement on Thursday: "Both the president and vice president had almost no interactions with the individual who tested positive and do not require being tested at this time."

Daddy Freeze leaves Cool Fm after 20 years

Daddy Freeze is leaving Cool FM after 20 years of working with the radio station.



The popular OAP made the announcement from the Cool FM studio.



Freeze began working with the radio station only 3 years after it started and went on to become the longest-serving staff at the organization.



He revealed that he's not leaving radio though, as he's moving to a different radio station.

Dangote loses N240 billion in five hours due to coronavirus

Africa’s richest man Aliko Dangote suffered a huge loss due to coronavirus on Wednesday March 11, as he lost N240 billion in five hours.



Dangote’s firms under the parent-company 'Dangote Group', suffered huge losses just after the World Health Organisation (WHO) declared coronavirus a pandemic (spreading in multiple countries around the world at the same time).



The Nation reported that Dangote Cement Plc which is Nigeria’s most capitalised quoted company and accounts for more than 20 per cent of the total market capitalisation, led the decline with the maximum daily allowable drop of 10 per cent or N17, which is equivalent to net depreciation of N289.68 billion.



Dangote Sugar Refinery (DSR) Plc and NASCON Allied Industries Plc lost N1.8 billion and N3.05 billion. Dangote Cement’s share price dropped by N17 from N170 to close at N153. NASCON Allied Industries declined by N1.15 to close at N3.05 while DSR lost 15 kobo to close at N9.75 per share.

NBA suspends its season after player tests positive for coronavirus

The National Basketball Association is suspending its season after a player tested positive for coronavirus.



The league made the announcement on Wednesday night after the NBA game between the Utah Jazz and Oklahoma City Thunder was abruptly postponed.



The players from both teams were already on the court at the Chesapeake Energy Arena in Oklahoma City for warm-ups when they were called back to the locker rooms to inform them about a player who has been infected with coronavirus.



The NBA said the affected player was not in the arena and the test results were reported shortly before tip-off.



"The NBA is suspending gameplay following the conclusion of tonight's schedule of games until further notice," the NBA said in a statement. "The NBA will use this hiatus to determine next steps for moving forward in regard to the coronavirus pandemic."



“A player on the Utah Jazz preliminarily tested positive for COVID-19. The test result was reported shortly prior to the tipoff,” according to the news release.



“At that time, tonight’s game was canceled. The affected player was not in the arena.”



In a statement, the Utah Jazz said a player on the team tested negative for influenza, strep throat and an upper respiratory infection Wednesday morning.



"The individual's symptoms diminished over the course of today, however, in a precautionary measure, and in consultation and cooperation with NBA medical staff and Oklahoma health officials, the decision was made to test for COVID-19," the team said.



The player is in the care of health officials in Oklahoma City, the team said.



"We wish this player a full and speedy recovery, and appreciate the work of health officials in Oklahoma to test a member of the Utah Jazz for COVID-19, as well as their prudent decision to test the entire team at this time," Utah Gov. Gary Herbert and Lt. Gov. Spencer Cox said in a joint statement.



They also added that they are working to identify individuals who have had close enough contact with the player as to have been potentially exposed.

Sanusi brought his problems on himself - Islamic professor says

A Professor of Islamic Political Thoughts at Yusuf Maitama Sule University, Kano, Professor Umar Muhammad Labdo, has said that the dethroned Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II caused his removal as emir.



Professor Labdo made this statement in an interview with Daily Trust.



Listing the things Sanusi did to bring ''problems upon himself, ''Labdo said the former Emir of Kano involved himself in politics during the last general elections. This, he said, was against the custom of the emirate.



Labdo said: “It is unfortunate that the emirate is being played with by politicians, but Sanusi invited this to himself. He is too vocal against the custom. Traditional rulers have ways of contributing to governance not publicly."



He went on to say that Sanusi tried to introduce “western things” into the emirate.



He said: “He is pro-women against men. He told women to retaliate if their husbands slapped them. This is against our culture in Africa. He is too blunt; he talks without considering the feelings of his people."
